The 8-Day Mount Ararat Expedition is our most comprehensive program.
Designed for climbers who prefer maximum acclimatization, a relaxed pace, and a deeper cultural experience in Eastern Turkey.
This itinerary combines a structured summit plan with an additional acclimatization hike and a guided cultural tour around Doğubayazıt.
Ideal for those who want both achievement and exploration.
Upon arrival at Van Airport or Ağrı Airport, you will be welcomed by our professional licensed mountain guide and transferred to Doğubayazıt.

Overnight at hotel in Doğubayazıt.
After breakfast, we drive to Çevirme Village (2,200m).
From there, we begin trekking to Yeşil Yayla Base Camp (3,200m).
Heavy equipment is transported by pack animals.
Trekking duration: 3–4 hours
Elevation gain: approx. 1,000m
At camp:
Hot tea
Freshly prepared meal
Rest and orientation
Overnight at Camp 1 (3,200m).
This day is dedicated to proper acclimatization.
After breakfast, we hike up towards Camp 2 (4,200m) and return to Base Camp the same day.
Total hiking duration: approx. 7–8 hours
Strategy: “Climb high, sleep low” principle
This significantly increases summit success rates and helps the body adapt to altitude.
Overnight at Camp 1 (3,200m).
After breakfast, we move permanently to Camp 2 (4,200m).
Equipment is transported by pack animals.
Climbing duration: 5–6 hours
Elevation gain: approx. 1,000m
At Camp 2:
Hot meal
Hydration and rest
Early sleep (summit attempt starts around 1–2 a.m.)
Overnight at Camp 2.
We begin our summit attempt in the early morning hours.
The ascent takes approximately 5–7 hours depending on weather and group pace.
Reaching the summit of Mount Ararat (5,165m) offers panoramic views across Turkey, Iran, and Armenia.
After spending time at the summit:
Descend to Camp 2
Rest and meal
Continue descent to Camp 1 (3,200m)
Overnight at Camp 1.
After breakfast at Camp 1, we descend to Çevirme Village.
Transfer back to Doğubayazıt.
Overnight at hotel.
Today we explore the cultural highlights of the region.
We visit:
Ishak Pasha Palace – a magnificent 17th-century Ottoman architectural masterpiece.
The area traditionally associated with Noah’s Ark.
Meteor Crater, one of the largest meteor craters in the region.
Scenic viewpoints near the Iranian border.
This day offers insight into the history, culture, and landscape of Eastern Anatolia.
Overnight in Doğubayazıt.
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Van or Ağrı Airport according to your departure time.

Mount Ararat is considered a non-technical high-altitude climb during the normal climbing season. No advanced mountaineering techniques such as rope climbing or ice wall ascent are required under standard summer conditions.
However, it is a physically demanding expedition due to altitude (5,165 meters) and long ascent days. Basic use of trekking poles and crampons may be necessary depending on snow conditions near the summit.
Do I need previous climbing experience?
Previous high-altitude trekking experience is recommended but not mandatory.
If you are in good physical condition and comfortable hiking 5–7 hours per day on steep terrain, you can successfully complete the Mount Ararat climb with our professional guides.
We recommend regular cardio training and hiking preparation before the expedition.
When is the best time to climb Mount Ararat?
The best time to climb Mount Ararat is during the stable weather months of the climbing season, typically from late spring to early autumn.
During this period, snow conditions are more predictable, and summit success rates are significantly higher. Weather on Mount Ararat can still change rapidly, so flexibility is always important.
Is a climbing permit required?
Yes, a Mount Ararat climbing permit is mandatory for all foreign and domestic climbers.
The permit is issued by Turkish authorities and must be arranged in advance. Our team handles the entire permit application process on your behalf as part of the expedition organization.
